Download movies ahead of time?

Is there a mechanism to download videos ahead of time? At the moment I start the video and just let it run to fully download it but that's a bit dangerous for rentals as I end up running out of time occasionally.

I have the latest ATV (4th gen?)

THanks.

Apple TV (4th generation), tvOS 9.2.2

How long you have to watch

You have 30 days to start watching a movie after you rent it. After you start watching the movie, you have 24 hours (in the US) or 48 hours (elsewhere) to finish it. You can watch the movie as often as you like until it expires.

If you don’t start watching a movie within 30 days, you must rent it again.

Movies you rent disappear from your iTunes library when the rental period ends.

Hi Carolyn, I understand how renting works, that wasn't my question.

Hi vazandrew, I am pretty sure older versions of the ATV (I have one from each generation) allowed you to download videos and were not purely streaming devices. Sounds like 4th generation won't let you do that. In the past I have tried using my IMAC to rent but when I stream I get the "you are not authorised to view this media on this device". Can try again.
